what can i say about the book?
i simply love it!
the main character and the beautiful illustrations
caught me at the very first moment.
( yes! i'm a worms fan since Scarry's Lowly Worm!! )
love the design, with solid bold colors and lots of white
 that goes perfectly together with the simple story,
and a short and plain text.
besides, the story is really good too!
the book is about a very creative and stubborn worm,
 that wants an apple and all the adventures he's going through
while attempting to achieve that dream apple.
it's such a charming and naïve worm...
so full of silly ideas and failing plans
that make me smile.
(don't miss how he disguises himself!!)
even the end of the story is wonderful and unexpected.

libro bonito y gracioso a la vista!
Totó quiere la manzana
(tengo la versión en catalán,
En Totó vol la poma)
de Mathieu Lavoie.
el autor es cofundador y editor en Comme des Géants,
una editorial muy guay de Montreal, publican unos libros preciosos!
además he encontrado un post en este blog Minerva Reads
sobre el proceso de creación del libro que está muy bien.

qué te voy a contar sobre el libro?
me ha encantado! el gusanito protagonista me enamoró al instante,
porque soy una fan total de los gusanitos desde que
conocía a Gusi de Richard Scarry.
Las ilustraciones y diseño tan limpio,
con esas masas sólidas de colores y tanto blanco funcionan a la perfección
acompañando una historia muy sencilla y con poquito texto.
además la historia es buenísima,
cuenta la historia de Totó que es un gusano muy intrépido y creativo,
y sobre todo testarudo, que se ha encaprichado de una manzana
 y pasa las mil y una para conseguirla.
no te pierdas sus disfraces y cómo consigue disfrazarse,
genial ;)
tiene unas ocurrencias muy buenas y sus planes casi siempre fallan,
digo casi siempre porque al final...
bueno, no lo cuento, lo tendrás que descubrir,
el final también es muy bueno.

este bosque nevado es un proyecto para amantes del invierno,
paisajes nevados y días fresquitos.
bordar con lanas es una de mis modalidades de bordado preferidas,

así que, porqué no aplicarla para reciclar uno de esos jerseys mulliditos
que tenía por ahí olvidados?

hope you spent a lovely valentine's day :)

found some inspiring and magical terrariums on pinterest,
and i've started to feel a little obsessed with them.
did you know that there's no need to water them?
 they have their own ecosystem!

got some watering and sunlight issues with my indoor plants,
can't keep them alive and healthy for a long time...
only devil's ivy survives at home.
(love its name!!)
my mother got plenty of them.
just know the reason why!

so, i got the beautiful book by Clea Cregan
from Miniscapes,
about building your own terrariums using old jars
and glass containers.
she created modern versions of the traditional terrariums
as a hobby some years ago and got so many custom orders
that started her own project, Miniscapes, to sell them.
take a look at her Pinterest,
don't you think they are amazingly precious?
i think i could lose myself in any of those tiny worlds,
love the idea of adding mini toys for a magical touch.

i've pinned inspiring images and tutorials on the net,
but i always prefer having a real book on my hands
while i'm handcrafting at home, do you feel the same?

i think i have got all i need to start creating them!
the book tells about the soil, peebles, types of plants...
got some nice handy glass jars that were totally forgotten.
so... i just need to find a little of time,
the hardest part of it.

hola de nuevo!
espero que el martes disfrutases de un feliz día de san valentín!

tengo una nueva obsesión,
encontré unos preciosos terrariums en pinterest
y me quedé súper pillada.
son tan mágicos... creo que podría perderme fácilmente
en estos micro mundos y lo mejor de todo es que
no se tiene que regar, lo sabías?
tienen su propio ecosistema!

sigo sin encontrar pantas que logren sobrevivir en casa,
todas acaban en el balcón...
las únicas que he descubierto recientemente son los potos
(prefiero su nombre en inglés: devil's ivy),
aunque les tenía mucha manía porque mi madre
tenía la casa llena de ellas, ahora ya sé porqué!! ;)
así que me resistía a comprarlas.

así que me he puesto manos a la obra!
tengo un libro que está súper bien para poder empezar:
 Miniscapes de Clea Cregan,
explica detalladamente cómo hacer tus propios terrariums,
los materiales que necesitas, tipos de plantas...
además salen unos terrariums tan monos...
cuando les añaden muñequitos de plástico ya son lo más!!

tengo muchas imágenes y minitutoriales en el ordenador,
no sé si te pasa lo mismo, pero a la hora de ponerme
a trabajar con las manos, me resulta más cómodo y rápido
tener un libro en papel para ir consultándolo.

por lo visto Clea, empezó a hacer versiones modernas
de los tradicionales terrariums en su tiempo libre,
pero enseguida le llovieron encargos y fundó su empresa Miniscapes,
echa un vistazo a su Pinterest para inspirarte.
otro ejemplo claro de un hobby que se convierte
en el trabajo de tu vida! me encanta!

lo mejor de todo es que por fin voy a utilizar todos esos jarrones
y recipientes bonitos de vidrio que tengo abandonados por casa!
tengo todo lo necesario!
sólo me queda lo más difícil...
encontrar un ratito para ponerme a hacerlo :p
ya te contaré cómo lo llevo :)

just discovered this charming book,
A Frog In Reflection by Kazuo Iwamura,
that won the Kodansha Prize
for Picture Books,
a brilliant calm book with precious details and humor
of how this little frog contemplates
the big questions of life.
Iwamura is one of the few authors of picture books
that has a museum in Japan dedicated to his work.
"the Ehon-No-Oka Art Museum (Picture-Book Hill Museum)
was made to be a place where visitors can enjoy
both the world of picture books and the nature of the outlying mountain
villages where such stories take place."
must visit it someday!!
really smitten by this lovely and funny character and his world.

acabo de descubrir este libro tan, y tan precioso,
Reflexiones de una ranita de Kazuo Iwamura,
ganador del Kodansha Award al mejor libro ilustrado.
es una narración lenta, sin una trama ni historia definida,
llena de preciosos detalles y de mucho humor
que nos muestra a esta graciosa ranita intentando
comprender el mundo que le rodea,
empezando por los detalles más insignificantes para llegar a
las grandes preguntas sobre la vida.
 pura filosofía llevada con mucho humor y un perfecto toque naïf.

Iwamura es uno de los pocos autores de libros ilustrados que tiene un museo
en Japón dedicado a su obra.
el Ehon-No-Oka Art Museum (Picture-Book Hill Museum)
es un museo en lo alto de una colina donde se pueden ver sus trabajos
y también conocer a fondo la naturaleza que lo rodea,
que es donde habitan sus personajes.
parece que hay actividades, rutas y una especie de granja.
lo tengo que visitar si alguna vez voy a Japón!
