Embroidered Sea Butterflies

hola!
coloreé mi pelo rosa con el líquido de la remolacha hervida,
lo probé un poco de broma, pero funciona :)
tuve que poner un poco de acondicionador en las puntas porque quedaba muy seco y durito.

hoy he empezado a preparar el taller de bordado del jueves en la playa,
todavía quedan un par de plazas libres así que escribidme si os animais a venir!
conocíais las mariposas marinas? ;)
la he bordado con cuentas y conchas sobre organza estampada,
he combinado hilos de DMC mouliné e hilo de coser
para las puntadas gruesas y finas.

i have my hair dyed pink using some beet water
it was just a little joke, but it works :)
(i had to put some conditioner on the ends because it was very dry and rough)
tell me if you dare doing it ;)

today i started to prepare the embroidery workshop we'll arrange at the beach on thrusday
have you ever met sea butterflies? ;)
i've embroidered them with beads and shells onto white dotted organza,
 combining DMC mouliné cotton and sewing thread
for thick and fine stitches.

Little Thing Magazine

 hola! he hecho algunas fotos de la revista Little Thing,
me llegó hace unas semanas y como es tan bonita y este número trata sobre la costura y el bordado he pensado que igual os interesa.
hay algunas artistas y crafters que no conocía, más abajo os paso los links :)

here is the last issue of Little Thing magazine,
i told you before that this issue was about sewing.
I know it’s hard to find, specially from spain, so i wanted to share it with you.

I came across this beautiful magazine  by chance,
while browsing images on Google. I was searching  for vintage dolls and nutcrackers
and I found these amazing pics.
I started to look for more info about the magazine,
but unfortunatly it was impossible to buy it on any local stores…
it was an wonderful surprise finally leafing through it!
(Love this type of matte paper…)

The only thing i miss is to be able to read in chineese! 
Just enjoying all this inspiration, beautiful findings and great ideas.

Si os animais a pasar la tarde bordando y merendando con nosotras,

lo haremos en el parque y bordaremos sobre hojas, palitos, semillas...
en fin, todo lo que encontremos :)

he estado recolectando cositas, ya tengo una buena colección!
y he empezado otro nuevo bordado inspirada por todos estos links de artistas textiles que he encontrado en la red.

Tardes de Picnic y Agujas / New Embroidery Workshops

he preparado unos talleres de bordado muy especiales
pensados para todos los que como yo, en agosto nos vamos a quedar por aquí
o para quienes estén de vaciones visitando la ciudad :)

haremos picnics y saldremos a bordar a la playa o al parque.
lo gracioso de los talleres es que aprovecharemos las cosas que estén a nuestro alrededor para inspirarnos o para incorporarlas a nuestro bordado,
será un bordado con objetos encontrados!
así que aprenderemos nuevas técnicas para poder bordar
sobre palitos, hojas, conchas, piedrecitas... todo vale!

estoy haciendo varios bordados para que os hagáis una idea de lo que podremos hacer,
 uno de temática marina y otro campestre :)


we are going to enjoy some crafty picnics these august.
i'm arranging new embroidery workshops
while having a picnic on the beach or in the park!
these are perfect for the people like me who stay here these days
or for everyone who is on holidays visiting barcelona :)

we'll use objects trouvées / found objects for adding them to our embroideries,
we'll be inspired by nature and spent a lovely afternoon al fresco!

i've started two samples to show you some of the freehand techniques we'll practise,
one embroidery is inspired by the sealife and the other one by the forest.

a veces es interesante inspirarse en lo que vemos a nuestro alrededor
pero también es divertido imaginarse lo que no se vé.
hay un mundo fantástico lleno de posibilidades
esperando a ser descubierto!!

ya os enseñaré estos bordados cuando estén acabados,
tengo unas ganas de terminarlos...

i think it's interesting being inspired by things we see,
but it's also fun to imagine what we aren't able to see.
ther's a fantastic world, a never-never land,
awaiting for being discovered!!

i'll keep updated about these embroidery samples,
i can't wait to finish them!

para pasar una tarde idílica merendando y bordando al aire libre.

en cada uno de ellos aprenderemos a añadir diferentes elementos encontrados,
y bordaremos hojas, flores e insectos...
o conchas, sombrillas, barquitos,  caballitos de mar...

el precio del taller es de 40€
se incluye la merienda y material de bordado patrocinado por DMC

 (no hace falta tener conocimientos previos ni de costura ni de bordado)
