hola! qué tal va todo?
ya tengo todo preparado para el taller de bordado sobre a migurumis que daré la semana que viene.

Taller de Bordado de Amigurumis
viernes 22 de marzo de 17 a 20h.
En este taller vamos a bordarles caritas, bigotes, barbas, gafas pecas... a todos esos amigurumis que necesitan un toque especial.
Aprenderemos a utilizar diferentes puntos de bordado y diferentes hilos o lanas según el tipo de punto y material que hayáis utilizado en vuestro amigurumi. Hay un montón de recursos para darles el toque de gracia a nuestros personajes.
tengo muchas ganas de ver las maravillas que salen de las manos de todas las alumnas!

Taller  de brodado de Fantasía -Nivel 2

viernes 5 y 12 de abril de 16:30 a 19h.
NIVEL: AVANZADO
Para todas las que estéis aburridas de bordar siempre con los mismos puntos.
Hay un paraíso divino más allá del pespunte, la cadeneta y el punto de tallo ;)
En este segundo nivel de bordado aprenderemos nuevos puntos y también algunas variaciones de los puntos básicos que ya conocíamos. Conseguiremos diferentes efectos en contornos, volúmenes, y también probaremos nuevos tipos de relleno de superfícies.
Lo haremos en dos sesiones de dos horas y media cada una, al principio lo programé en una sóla sesión pero sólo dió tiempo a repasar la mitad del temario... Así que decidí dedicarle más horas para poder profundizar un poquito más, hay tanta técnica bonita que bordar en este taller que es muy difícil renunciar a ellas!

Para este taller es necesario tener conocimientos de los puntos básicos: pespunte, cadeneta, festón y tallo.

an advanced embroidery worhshop for all the people that are getting bored of stitching always the same. there a wonderful world full of different stitches ready to be learned ;)
Lots of chain, blanket, stem, knot and back sticht variations.
we enjoyed a great afternoon on the lastest advanced embroidery workshop at Petitbo café, more images here

tuvimos la suerte de contar con Maria de M for Monkey,
trajo algunos de sus preciosos muñecos que se hicieron rápidamente amigos de los míos.
Maria hace una ropita increíble para las Blythe, en las que poco a poco va añadiendo detalles bordados.
también estuvo Elsa, que hace muñecos y juguetes de madera chulísimos para Enrosca, echar un vistazo!!

otro de los talleres que hice en Casa Sagnier el de Muñecos-relojes de pared,
con un grupito de lujo Elsa, Irma, Tesi, Inés, María y Begoña,
esta muñequita es Valentina, que nos vinos a visitar, de Begoña ( Romero i Juaneta).
a que es preciosa?
Irma ha empezado un proyecto muy chulo que se llama Crafting Barcelona,
donde encontraréis información de todo lo que se cuece en la escena craft de barcelona!

lo pasamos muy bien y todas las chicas salieron con su muñeco-reloj de pared bajo el brazo.
todavía tengo que subir algunas fotos más de algunos talleres,
la verdad es que me siento un poco desbordada, y no consigo ponerme al día con los mails, las fotos y la promoción de los talleres que voy haciendo...
es la parte de los talleres que lleva más trabajo!
bueno, espero poder ponerme al día de todo.
que disfrutéis de una feliz semana :)

Embroidered amigurumi heads

he estado bordado caritas en bolas y amigurumis que tenía a medias,
y han quedado unas cabezas bastante peculiares :)

el motivo de estos experimentos es un taller que llevaba tiempo queriendo hacer,
Sara (Uruki), me sugirió la idea un día en clase,

ya que mucha gente que hacía muñecos se encontraba siempre con el problema de no saber cómo bordar sobre ese tejido y le faltaban recursos para darles una expresión determinada.

al fin y al cabo ponerle una cara a un muñeco 

es lo más importante a la hora de definir su personalidad.

ya estoy acabando de montar la programación de los talleres de marzo :)

i've been embroidering some cute faces on balls and amigurumi spheres that i left half-done,
they seem to be peculiar heads ;)
the reason for these samplers is a workshop that i longed to do,
Sara who attended to one of my courses gave me the idea.
the fact is that lot of people who make amigurumi doesn't know how to embroider onto this material,
they find very hard giving any expression,
to provide with personality their faces.
i think this is the most important while making a doll.

i'm just finishing mars workshops program :)

he vuelto a estar un poco ausente,
me habéis tenido trabajando mucho últimamente! ;)

los Super Anillos han tenido mucho más éxito del que me esperaba,

(gracias a Handmade Charlotte por mencionarlo en su blog)

y he estado haciendo algunos más para la tienda y enviándolos en plan kamicace,

aunque no sé si llegarán a tiempo...

es tan guay que la gente compre anillos que vienen del fondo del mar
con el poder del amor eterno...

me hace muy feliz que la gente participe en este juego ;)

Super Ring has been very popular, amazilny more than i ever guessed.

Valentine Shop UPDATE! Super Ring

 aquí llega mi Super Anillo, justito, justito para San Valentín.
un anillo de mentira sólo apto para algún dedo meñique finito,
pero muy recomendable para utilizar como colgante.

como ya sabéis, el concepto "tiempo" me tiene bastante obsesionada
y me ha empezado a apetecer jugar un poco con otro símbolo poderoso:
el Anillo.
los anillos tradicionalmente simbolizan la eternidad y el infinito,
la trasposición del círculo mágico al mundo real de lo tangible.
en un sentido mágico un anillo te une a un poder, a una energía.

así de mágico es este anillo,
una gema del océano.
me lo entregaron dos sirenas hace mucho, mucho tiempo,
 procedente del fondo del mar.
este antiguo y extraño anillo otorga el poder del amor imperecedero.
uno de los dones más preciados.
.
es una pieza única que he modelado a mano con porcelana fría.
esta vez la he dejado al natural, sin barnizar,
así parece rescatada de un naufragio,
erosionada por las olas y la arena del mar.

ha sido cuidadosamente pensada, diseñada y creada,
y espero que sea también muy querida.

es el regalo perfecto para todo aquel que quiera ser amado,
una original y divertida manera de desear un feliz San Valentín.
puede ser un anillo compromiso
como el de Desayuno con diamantes...
o simplemente una manera bonita de mostrar tu aprecio por otra persona.

Super Ring is the NEW  treasure I added to the shop!
just in time for Valentine's day.

as you know, i'm a little obsessed about time
so i fancied working with another powerful and timeless symbol:
The Ring.
ring is a traditional symbol of infinity or eternity,
the transposition of the magical circle into the real world of tangible. 
in a magical sense ring bins you with power, with energy!

so here is my magic ring:
Super Ring is an ancient treasure stolen from the bottom of the sea.
 A Gem of the Seaside given to me by two little mermaids.
it is an old rare ring that gives the power of never ending love,
one of the most wanted precious gifts.

Super Ring
is the a gift for all who wants to be forever loved.
  it's an original and fun way to share your love with your loved ones
as a Friendship Ring, Preengagement Ring... 
or just as a Valentine's ring :)

Super Ring is a ring too small to wear,
it would only fit a very thin little finger,
but it could be used as cute pendant,
hanging on a trim or a chain.
.
it was carefully dreamed, designed, hand molded with cold porcelain,
assembled, packaged... 
this time i didn't use any barnish,
because i really like the weatherbeaten look of this material.
it seems as it had been recovered from a shipwreck.
i tried to think in all the details to make a very unique piece,
and i hopefully a well loved thing.

Whishing it brings a smile to your face and you feel the power.

SeaShell Making

 el diseño de la concha que acompaña al Super Anillo ha sido bastente especial
quería que apareciesen las sirenas para darle un toque mágico
buscandomás cosas para añadir a la decoración,
 gabi me dió la idea de añadir conchas como elemento decorativo
y enseguida las tomé como idea principal del diseño del soporte.

el papel  que he utilizado en el exterior es super antiguo,
lo compré hace por lo menos veinte años en una tienda de encuadernación
en la calle Tallers donde se encontraban, por aquella época, auténticas reliquias.
por desgracia esa tienda cerró hace dos años,
así que le tengo un cariño especial a todos los papeles que compré allí.
éste es azul y hace unas aguas muy raras
siempre me ha encantado pero nunca lo había llegado a utilizar,
la verdad es que de da un toque de lo más kitsch y retro.

al final ha sido mucho más laboriosa la elaboración de la concha que la del anillo.
hice una impresión casera con el papel pegado a un diA-4 porque es demasiado fino para la impresora, recortado manual, pegado y ensamblado con la cartulina...
la banda roja con lo del Super Anillo, idea también de gabi
al ver un paquete de juguetes antiguos de mi amiga Gina,
siempre fuente de inspiración.

he intentado cuidar todos los detalles para que sea una pieza muy especial y,
espero que, muy querida.
 ..
¿y qué me decís de esa cajita de plástico azul que me encontré hace poco?
es flipante, tiene la figura en relieve!!
es perfecta para guardar todos los anillos antes
de que se vayan con sus nuevos dueños.

the design of the seashell that comes with this Super Ring it's been quite especial,
i wanted to do something with mermaids to make it magical,
looking for more elements to use on the decoration
Gabriel gave me the idea of seashells
and soon seashells played the leading role.

i do love this kitsch thing!
the outside of the seashell is home printed onto a vintage paper
that i found at one of my most loved local stores in Barcelona.
this was an old bookbinding and paper store, not fancy but really enchanting,
where you could find beautiful leftovers from the fifties.
it was situated in a very charming place close to las Ramblas.
unfortunately it closed two years ago, so i'm happy to bring to live one of the beautiful papers i got from there.

the design of the red band with the logo was swiped from one Gina's vintage packaging,
her flickr is so inspiring.
Gabriel saw a "Super Toy" label and suggested using it.

it happens to me sometimes that i spend more time working on a packaging or in the concept of a piece, more than on the item itself...
the Sea Shell shape is hand cut, hand punched, assembled and glued.

... and, have you seen this amazing plastic case?
just gorgeous, with this raised character...
it's perfect to keep my rings before they travel to their new owners.

morning walk

una de mis cosas preferidas es salir a pasear por la mañana,
aunque sea un paseo corto,
no hay mejor manera de empezar el día,
la luz es tan bonita...
el parque se convierte en algo mágico con las plantas brillando al sol
y siempre lleno de sorpresas

Beautiful Borage · Borraja bonita

este parque que hay junto a mi casa me tiene maravillada,
hace poco me regalaba deliciosos madroños
y ahora me he dado cuenta de que allí crece un montón de borraja!
 lo descubrí gracias a una señora mayor que subía torpemente ayudada de una muleta por una pendiente bordeando el camino y llevaba una bolsa de plástico con hojas gruesas y muy rugosas,
me picó la curiosidad porque se había arriesgado bastante metiéndose por allí para cogerlas.
en este parque los abuelos campan a sus anchas y se aprovisionan de todo lo que ven por allí:
ajos tiernos, espárragos, higos, almendras, hinojo, higos chumbos...
busqué esa planta, me llevé una hoja a casa e investigué un poco en internet.
 era borraja, preciosa borraja.
es una de esas plantas que crece por todas partes,
toda la vida la he tenido ahí delante y tonta de mí,
no sabía qué era.

this park near home is always surprising me,
i found strawberry trees a bit ago
and now i've discovered that grows borage!
it was an old woman who gave me a clue.
the aged are always picking up almost everything at the park:
spring baby garlics, asparragus, figs, almonds, prickly pears, fennel...
so there was this woman with a crutch trying to go back to the main path,
she had been putting herself at risk going down the hill to collect a kind of rough big leaves,
it was really weird and i wanted to know what kind of plant it was!
so i look for the plant and i one leaf took home to investigate :)
and yes! it was borage, beautiful borage.
it's one of those humble plants that grows everywhere,
all my life right before my eyes... and i didn't know about it!

he estado buscando recetas para ver cómo prepararla,
hervida (el tallo o las hojas) o en ensaladas (hojas y flores),
aunque es un plato muy típico en aragón y había oído hanlar de ella,
no la había probado.
está buenísima, me ha sorprendido su sabor y olor a pepino,
saber que se cultiva como planta acompañante porque atrae a las abejas, facilitando la polinización,
y repele a otros insectos menos beneficiosos...
y sus propiedades medicinales.
lo que más me ha llamado la atención de lo que escriben sobre ella es
que dícen que sana el alma.
parece ser un buen remedio contra la melancolía.
en el siglo XVI un famoso herborista escribía:
"la borraja hace a hombres y mujeres felices y alegres, llevándose toda tristeza y melancolía…
y calma a los inquietos y lunáticos."
aquí explican cómo :)
sus flores (que por cierto son hermafroditas) producen una sensación de euforia
(los griegos la llamaban euphrosynon)
y los romanos preparaban una bebida macerándolas en vino
para curar la melancolía y la tristeza,
y los celtas la utilizaban para dar coraje a los guerreros.
en la edad media los soldados la llevaban bordada,
siendo también muy popular en la inglaterra isabelina.

he encontrado además un par de blogs chulísimos

en este último hay unos mapas de Londres en los que aparecen localizados lugares donde determinadas plantas comestibles crecen, miradlo porqe es flipante.
jardines secretos londinenses... en fin, mil cosas interesantes relacionadas con la jardinería.
hacía tiempo que no pegaba un rollo tan largo!

i didn't know that borage is used in companion planting,
is a Bee attractant: "The more bees in your garden, the better they pollinate its other plants."
it's also known as a medicinal plant, as a medecine for the soul :)
i've found a very interesting link about it here.
... a greek naturalist said that the plant ‘maketh a man merry and joyful.’
another greek physician mentioned the use of Borage to ‘comfort the heart, purge melancholy and quiet the lunatic person.’
...." Borage, as a flower essence, is for heavy heartedness and lack of confidence when facing challenges. The remedy is said to bring courage to the taker, providing a condition of “buoyancy of the soul”. (Katz and Kaminski 1994) Borage is said to bring “lightness and ebullience to the soul, filling it with optimism and enthusiasm.”...
..
Borage was called the "herb of gladness" by the Welsh. Romans made use of the borage flowers to produce an elixir, which they used to lighten the spirits and raise confidence, to give courage soldiers before they went into battle.
Medieval knights wore scraves embroidered with the flowers for the same reason.
This use of the plant to beat back depression was also common during the Elizabethan age in England, when melancholy was typically treated using a herbal concoction made from the borage.

2013 calendars are flying away!

algunos calendarios ya han empezado a salir de viaje
rumbo a sus nuevos hogares!

los recogí de la imprenta el viernes pasado y me he estado entreteniendo en renovar las pegatinas, tarjetitas y sobre que lo acompañan.
me lo paso bomba pensando todos los detalles del paquete!
este año vienen con un sobre estampado utilizando sellos caseros,
una piña bigotuda que os desea feliz 2013 :)

i got them last friday and i've been playing designing new stickers, cards and envelopes.
i do really love this part of the process!
