el miércoles me enteré de que el artista Mike Kelley había muerto.
lo conocíais?

El disco de Sonic Youth "Dirty", de 1992
con el trabajo de Mike Kelley en la portada e interiores,
una de las obras que más me ha influenciado a lo largo del tiempo
quizás porque hablaba mi mismo lenguaje,
yo no era consciente de ello, tan sólo me sentía identificada.
retrataba toda una generación, una ideología,
una manera de vivir...
punk, grunge, generación X, cultura indie...
vídeo de Sonic Youth, "Bull in the heather"

y un pequeño vídeo con una entrevista suya en el blog de Kim Baise, jikits,
para entrar en materia :)

i heard about Mike Kelley's death last wednesday.
did you know about him and his work?

Kelley 's work on the Sonic Youth's album cover for "Dirty" released in 1992.
this art work touched me and influenced me without knowing,
maybe because we used the same lenguage,
just loved it and emphatized with it.
i think that his work represented the voice of a generation,
a way of thinking and living...
punk, grunge, generation X, indie culture...
just to get into the point, Sonic Youth's "Bull in the heather"
and a short video/interview on the inspiring jikits blog.

hello! how is this wintery time going?
weather was so warm here lately
that we went to the park several times to have lunch and enjoy sunlight.

My Carrot Cake Recipe

hola! qué tal está yendo el fin de semana?
ya es sábado! la semana me pasa volando,
tenía ganas de pasaros una receta de pastel de zanahorias
que he sacado a partir de ésta receta y de esta otra.
la he hecho varias veces y siempre sale buenísima.
utilizo una medida de cup que tengo en casa
y las cucharitas medidoras del ikea.

* * *
ingredientes
--- ingredientes secos ---
2/3 cup de harina de centeno (aprox. 82 gr)
1/3 cup de harina de quinoa (aprox. 42 gr)
1/2 cup de almendra molida (aprox. 75 gr)
1 cucharita (teaspoon) de levadura
1/2 cucharita de bicarbonato
1/2 cucharita de sal
1 cucharita de canela
1 cucharita de gengibre

--- ingredientes no secos/líquidos :) ---
1/2 cup de azúcar moreno
1 cucharita de rayadura de piel de limón
1 yogur natural (más o menos 1/2 cup)
2 huevos
1 (medida de yogur, 1/2 cup) de aceite de girasol/oliva
1/2 cucharita de vainilla
1 cup de zanahoria rayada (2 zanahorias grandes)
...

Precalentar el horno a 175º
En un cuenco mezclar y amasar con las manos
el azúcar y la rayadura de limón,
para que se impregne bien el azúcar del aroma del limón.
Añadir el yogur. luego los huevos... batirlo.
Verter el aceite, la vainilla y por último la zanahoria rayada.
En otro cuenco mezclar bien todos los ingredientes secos,
y añadir poco a poco esta mezcla en la anterior.

Hornear durante 45 minutos -1 hora, o hasta que veamos que esté listo.

times flies... how is your weekend going?
i want to share with you a yummy carrot cake recipe that i'm baking lately
i've been making it this christmas and people loved it!
i've mixed some recipes that i found on pinterest, this and this,
and here is my final recipe:

ingredients
--- dry mixture---
2/3 cup rye flour
1/3 cup quinoa flour
1/2 cup ground almond
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground ginger

--- wet mixture---
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon grated lemon zest
1/2 cup plain yogourt
2 eggs
1/2 cup sunflower/olive oil
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup grated carrots (approx. 2 big carrots)
...
Preheat oven to 350F.
In a medium bowl mix together, using your hands, brown sugar and lemon zest,
rub to soak sugar with lemon fragance.
Add yougurt, mix well. Add eggs, then oil, beating and scraping bowl
after each addition, until well combined.
Add vanilla and carrots, beat well.
In a separate bowl, whisk together flour and dry ingredients.
Stir dry ingredients into wet mixture

Pour into prepared pan and bake for 45 minutes- 1 hour,
or until toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.

New Shop Update! Tote bags

hola de nuevo! :)
he subido a la tienda unos totes con enanitos dibujados,
la casa se había quedado un poco vacía ahora que se han ido casi todos...
así que he hecho unos totes con ellos.

he hecho poquitos, dos de cada color,
(si os gustan daos prisa, porque no sé si voy a volver a hacer,
de los enanitos tan sólo me queda uno en la tienda!)

el tote rosa lo he teñido a mano,
y queda muy chulo con motitas de pigmento por ahí esparcidas.
he pintado el dibujo directamente con pintura para telas porque todavía
no me he aventurado con las serigrafías.
todo se andará!

i've added two totes featuring one of my Pixie Elves at the shop,
the house is a seems a little empty, now that almost all my knee huggers are gone ...
so i've made some totes full of Pixies' love!

there're only two of each color.
(if you like them, then hurry up!
because i don't know if i'll make some more later,
there's just one Pixie elf left at the shop!)

i dyed the pink tote at home, while testing new colors,
and i love how it looks,
so cool! tiny pigment spots scattered all around.
and the other one, is in a beautiful natural cotton color.
the drawing is hand painted using
black waterbased fabric ink, so each one is one of a kind.

el que hicimos el viernes pasado estuvo muy bien,

hola :)
os quiero presentar a una nueva parejita que se ha venido a vivir a casa,
Nancy y Sluggo,
por una vez las cosas que más nos gustan a Gabi y a mí se han materializado,
los personajes favoritos de Gabi y mi debilidad: los muñecos vintage.
los encontró Gabi en eBay, son increíbles, dan tan buen rollo!
son nuestro ojito derecho ;)

y como se acerca el día de los enamorados ya he empezado a hacer
algunas cometas, que repartirán amor por doquier!
