hola! espero que haya ido bien el fin de semana!

tengo notícias frescas! ;)
esta primavera impartiré el curso de Bordado Creativo
en un sitio nuevo: el Centre Cívic Vil·la Florida,
el horario será: miércoles de 17 a 19 h
del 11 abril a 13 junio.

se trata del mismo curso de iniciación de bordado que venía haciendo o hasta ahora, revisando los puntos básicos y probando diferentes soportes y materiales.
aquí está el listado con todas las actividades del centro que se han programado,
por si os interesan, tienen muy buena pinta.

las matrículas son a partir del 22 de marzo,
para evitar las colas, hay un sorteo para ordenar los horarios de inscripciones
13 al 16 se podrá pedir número en el mismo centro
o por email ccvilaflorida@qsl.ca indicando en el asunto el DNI, nombre y apellidos.
así el día 19 en su web estará disponible el día y la hora en que podéis inscribiros.

Old wall hooks, tests & the making

hola de nuevo! qué tal va todo?
tenía pendiente explicaros un poco cómo salió la idea de los percheros
y como fue el proceso. porque me ha costado mucho,
llevo arrastrándolo desde hace más de dos años!

ese perchero antiguo con cabeza de pato que compré hace muchos años
es el causante de todo :)
me gustaba tanto que quería hacer alguna versión diferente.

así que hice un boceto con el diseño del cuerpo de metal,
fui a una herrería para ver el tipo de varillas y grosores que podía comprar,
busqué un herrero que lo moldease...
también probé diferentes materiales para las bolas,
pero al final me decidí por las bolas de madera
que no encontré por aquí y tuve que comprar por internet
pintadas? no pintadas? barnizadas?
al final todo muy minimal,
madera y metal sin tratar.

encontrar unas formas de cabezas, materiales, ojos...
que me gustasen fue lo más complicado,
después de probar volúmenes volví a decantarme por lo más sencillo.
opté por dejar la pieza de metal y la cabeza desmontables,
así se puede limpiar cómodamente,
la cabeza de pato del perchero original,
está enganchada al perchero y todo el fieltro está tan hecho polvo...

las fotos que aparecen son algunas de las pruebas que hice,
llevan dos años rodando de una lado a otro de la casa.
para mí es todo un logro haberlos terminado después de tanto tiempo :)

i wanted i tell you a little about the wall hooks' making process,
because it took around two years!

this cute vintage hook with a duck furry head that i found long ago at a secondhand shop caused it all :)
i loved it so much that i fancied making some more with different desings.
so i designed a steel piece similar to the vintage one,
looked for the material, size and hardness of the steel stick.
then it was cut and shaped in a small forge.
it was hard also finding the wooden balls that i wanted, i had to order them online. then whether paint them, or nor, maybe varnish...
i choose the simplest options,
no treated wood or steel.
i wasn't sure with the type of stuffed heads i wanted to make,
these images above are some of the old tests that i made,
different shapes, eyes, fabrics...

another thing that i worried about was its maintenance,
the vintage duck hook gets dirty very fast and felt is really delicate...
so i planned to design the new ones handier.
the new head doll is easily taken off from the steel hook,
so it can be cleaned apart.
for me it's a big achievement getting it done,
love solving and finishing projects!!

conocéis Kickstarter? para los que como yo no lo conocían,
aquí va un pequeño resumen, porque es una iniciativa muy interesante!

Kickstarter es una plataforma que permite a cualquiera buscar apoyo económico en internet, para poder desarrollar un proyecto a través de donaciones ( desde $1).
lo bueno es que si el proyecto no reúne el dinero necesario en un tiempo determinado, la gente que ha respaldado el proyecto no perderá nada porque los pagos sólo se hacen efectivos si tiene éxito la campaña de recogida.
eso sí, Kickstarter se lleva un 5% del total de la recaudación si se completa.

existe una cosa parecida en españa que por suerte funciona con Paypal, Lanzanos.com

bueno, yo me he enterado porque Gabi está metido en uno de esos proyectos que buscan patrocinadores para salir a la luz.
es un fanzine, Soaked Moist, una antología de autores de cómic de 50 páginas que rinde tributo al cómic underground de los 60s y 70s.
la inciciativa corre a cargo de PB Kain e incluye trabajos suyos y de 15 autores internacionales como Alex Schubert, Pat Aulisio, Josh Bayer, Lizzee Solomon... y claro está de Gabriel Corbera :)
tiene una pinta increíble!

estamos contando los días y el dinero que queda para ver este proyecto finalmente en papel!
la verdad es que estas cosas le dan a uno vidilla.

si os animáis vosotros también a patrocinar este fanzine podéis hacerlo aquí desde $1,
si donas $15 te envían un ejemplar!
a partir de esta cantidad hay más opciones de donativos.

i think it's very interesting for everyone who wants to develop a project. i've browsed wikipedia for more info...
"it's an online crowdfunding website for creative projects.
project owners choose a deadline and a target minimum of funds to raise. if the chosen target is not gathered by the deadline, no funds are collected (this is known as a provision point mechanism). money pledged by donors is collected using Amazon Payments".
maybe you must know also that...
"Kickstarter takes 5% of the funds raised; Amazon charges an additional 3-5%."

i've heard about it because Gabriel is joining one of those projects on Kickstarter,
a zine called SOAKED MOIST runned by PB Kain.
it's a comics anthology inspired by awesome underground comix from the 1960's and 70's.
it has over 50 pages of art comics from 16 cartoonist from all over the world,
like himself and Alex Schubert, Pat Aulisio, Josh Bayer, Lizzee Solomon...
and Gabriel Corbera :)
it looks amazing!

we're counting the days and the money it's left to get this zine finally printed out!
it's so exciting, these kind of things make a thrill time!

if you also feel like backing the project you can do it from $1,
