i've been enjoying some beautiful old westerns on tv,
the weekend after having lunch,
3:10 to Yuma and Gunfight at the O.K. Corral
both from 1957.
loving its soundtrack and photography.
i didn't know that this last one was based on a true story.

finally found my perfect cinnamon sugar apple cake recipe!!
yummy and fluffy, not too sweet...
(made with rye flour and replacing the last 1/2 cup with almond flour,
a little less of sugar plus little of ginger for the cover and )
and my first attempt of homemade strawberry jam
following another great recipe

this weekend i'm going to bake rye bread using a new recipe!

me he enganchado a los westerns en las sobremesas de los fines de semana,
los últimos que he visto son El tren de las 3:10 y Duelo de titanes,
suriosamente ambos del 10957.
me he quedado hipnotizada con la banda sonora y fotografía.
no sabía que Duelo de Titanes estaba basada en hechos reales!

y ya he encontrado mi receta perfecta de bizcocho de manzana con canela!!

esponjosa y deliciosa, nada dulce...
(la he hecho con harina de centeno y la última 1/2 cup la he hecho con almendra molida,
he puesto menos azúcar y un poco de jengibre en la cobertura)
y he probado mi primera mermelada de fresas casera,
aunque me he pasado con el limón...

este fin de semana toca probar una nueva receta de pan de centeno,
a ver qué tal sale!

New Shop Update! Circle & Square.

i’ve been making new goodies for fairs and special events,
i felt like making some basic summer accessories
with hand stamped thick natural cotton canvas,
lovely vintage faux horn buttons
and elastic bands for closing,
red gingham fabric and a natural cotton cord
for the inside and strap...

and simple concepts:
Circle and Square.

A black braided circle
and a red nosed square.

these small girly sling bags are big enough for a wallet,
keys, or a cell phone, camera, cosmetics...
a cute pouch to take for an outing.

.

these cotton cases are really good for storing cosmetics, glasses,
pens, brushes, scissors and even crochet needles...
helping to keep your gadget organized and scratch free.


it's a very limited edition because i made them only for selling at fairs
and i won't be making more.
i'm trying to work on new dolls :)
i just have 6 bags and 3 cases left
available at my shop.

he estado haciendo algunas cosilla nuevas para vender en la últimas ferias,
me apetecía hacer algunos bolsitos veraniegos con tela gordita de algodón
estampada con sellos caseros,
botones antiguos con forma de cuerno
y gomas elásticas para los cierres,
vichy rojo para los interiores
y cuerda de algodón para el asa...

y unos conceptos muy simples:
Círculo y Cuadrado.

Un círculo negro con trenzas
y un cuadrado con nariz roja.

estos bolsitos están pensados para llevar el monedero y las llaves,
el móvil o la cámara de fotos, maquillaje...
para salir un momento a la calle, o a pasear.

·
los estuches son perfectos para guardar los lápices,
gafas, pinceles o ganchillos.
para proteger de arañazos o mantenerlos organizado.

es una edición muy limitada porque los hice sólo para ferias,
y no creo qe vaya a hacer más,
quiero ponerme a hacer nuevas muñecas :)
así que he subido los 6 bolsitos y 3 estuches
que me quedan a la tienda.

my friend Gabri of Editorial Morsa was really kind inviting me to share his stall,
this is his beautiful new book "Las pequeñas".

we were next to our other friends of Bang and Mamut Comics,
they are publishing some cool books for kids.

i was selling my first zine: Spot the difference!

and also Gabriel's zines
Monday Suicide and Chufi!

..

interesting talks like the one about International Comics
with Max, Irkus M. Zeberio & Misma.

we had fun selling and meeting friends, lovely people and interesting stuff at the GRAF Fair,
an independent and self publishing fair in Barcelona,
we needed from a long time an event like this to show and present the work of many talented artist and small press.
it was great and although it wasn't the right place to sell my stuff,
i always take so many time developing all the packaging, designing and drawing cards
that the graphic part of every piece becomes a very important part of the process,
so i enjoyed being surrounded by so many works on paper and paper lovers.

a principios de mayo estuvimos en la feria del GRAF  y nos lo pasamos pipa :)

estuvimos entre amigos, conocimos nuevos autores y disfrutamos con las novedades.

hacía ya tiempo que necesitábamos alguna feria como esta donde poder mostrar el trabajo de diferentes autores y las publicaciones de pequeñas editoriales.

hubo charlas y mesas redondas entorno al mundo del cómic y la autoedición.

estuvo muy bien aunque no fuera el sitio idóneo para vender mis cosillas,

mi amigo Gabri de Editorial Morsa me invitó a compartir stand en la feria

y como me implico tanto en la parte gráfica de mis cosas,

tanto en el diseño como en los dibujitos que incluyo en el packaging

me encontraba super a gusto rodeada de tanta obra impresa, fanzines, postales, posters, libros... y de tanto amante del papel!
y me alegré sobre todo por las visitas de amigos que se pasaron por la feria
para saludar y pasar un buen rato juntos :)

aproveché para vender mis pasatiempos de las 8 diferencias y los fanzines nuevos de Gabi :)

Spot the Difference game zine! SHOP UPDATE

hace cosa de un año hice unos pasatiempos para una revista,
tenía pensado hacer algunos más y como ya es habitual en mí,
he tardado bastante en ponerme a hacerlos.

se trata del juego de las 8 diferencias o los 8 errores,
un tributo a los pasatiempos que Laplace publicaba en La Vanguardia,
dibujé muñecos y personajes que más me gustan de mi Pinterest,
escaneé esos dibujos y los combiné en el ordenador creando unos escenarios
y situaciones de lo más friki.

es un fanzine hecho en casita bajo el sello de Miedo Publicaciones que creamos Gabi y yo.

un librito tamaño DINA-6 de 20 páginas fotocopiadas
en blanco y negro, sobre papel rosa.
la portada es en color sobre cartulina y está cosido a máquina.

en total hay 8 juegos diferentes que os mantendrán entretenidos
durante un buen rato!
las soluciones las podréis encontrar en las páginas finales :)

si os animáis a jugar con estos personajillos y os lo queréis llevar a casa,

one year ago i made a printed activity for a magazine,
it was so funny that i wanted to make some more
but this project remained unfinished for a long time.
i recently finished it and printed it with Miedo Publicaciones,
the desktop publishing project that Gabriel and i are running.

it's been very exciting because i did't use any of my drawings this way before,
i mean, i used them only as part of a presentation, packagings, cards...

so here it is! My Spot the 8 Differences book.
it came out of one of my favorite activities and games of all times,
a tribute to Laplace's Eyes Twister.
it includes 8 drawings inspired on my Pinterest collection of vintage toys
i picked up some of the cutest critters and I hand drawed them, composing the eight games/pictures later on the computer to create a crazy kitschy world.

This hand made zine is 20 pages (4.1" x 5.8" / 10,5 x 14,8cm), is b/w digitally printed onto pink paper and the cover is color printed on a bit heavier paper. I stitched the binding using my sewing machine. All of the activities and drawings are original and were hand drawn by me.
Solutions are included at the end of the book.

Jean LAPLACE : Eye Twister / Los 8 errores

Pocas veces me ha costado tanto encontrar información sobre un artista,
no me puedo creer que haya tan poca cosa sobre la vida y la obra de este artista gráfico y humorista,
a pesar de que su obra me ha ido acompañando, al igual que a mucho otra gente,  a lo largo mi vida.

su juego de los 8 errores ha sido siempre mi pasatiempo favorito,
disfrutaba jugando y poniéndome a prueba,
pero también admiraba el trazo limpio, las figuras estáticas abstraídas, mirando con caras bobaliconas, y por supuesto me reía con su sentido del humor.

eran dos dibujos aparentemente iguales que escondían una serie de errores
 escenificando situaciones cotidianas a las que siempre sacaba punta.

Jean Laplace ha creado más de 10.810 juegos de los 8 errores, que han sido publicados en Francia, Suiza, Italia, Alemania, Canada, Brasil, Australia,  Japón y España.
Aquí lo disfrutábamos diariamente en el períodico La Vanguardia.

Sobre su biografía he encontrado tan poquita información... aquí y aquí.
nace en Bégica en 1934, estudió diseño industrial. Premio de dibujo humorístico (o algo así) en 1960 y fue también galardonado en 1990 en España (aunque no tengo muy claro qué premio era, no encuentro nada de info sobre el tema)

Rarely has been so hard for me searching for information about an artist.
I can't believe there is not much blogged or published about the life and work of this amazing cartoonist
although his work has been accompanying me, like to many other people,  throughout my life.
His "Eye Twister", or "Spot the difference?" has always been my favorite pastime.
I enjoyed playing and testing myself,
but I also admired his clean lines, the static stunned figures always with  goofy faces, and of course I laughed with his sense of humor.
Two pictures apparently identical that hid some mistakes that twisted silly everyday situations.

Laplace has created more than 10,810 Eye Twisters which have been published in France, Switzerland, Italy, Germany, Canada, Brazil, Australia, Japan and Spain.
we enjoyed them daily in the newspaper La Vanguardia.

I found just a bit about his biography... here and here. Born in 1934, studied industrial design. His work was awarded in 1960 and 1990 (although I'm not quite sure about which prizes... )

cortar tantas es de locos!

no paro de preparar cosas para talleres.
suerte del sol, del té, las flores y las galletas caseras.
