Indie Craft book, by Jo Waterhouse

no sé cómo he tardado tanto en postearlo, y eso que me ha ilusionado muchísimo y estoy tan orgullosa de haber participado en este gran proyecto...
Indie Craft recoge diferentes maneras de trabajar con soportes y materiales textiles que se están realizando actualmente.

Jo Waterhouse ha conseguido retratar una buena parte de la escena craft independiente o alternativa del momento, recopilando en este libro un montón de trabajos tan dispares como interesantes, y eso es lo que lo hace tan especial.
la intro está hecha por Faith Levine ( autora del libro y el documental Handmade Nation)
en el libro hay trabajos en crochet, amigurumi, punto, bordado...
estoy muy emocionada.
cuando ví por primera vez en la librería mi nombre y a mis muñecas entre tantos trabajos maravillosos mi corazón latía tan rápido...
en ese momento daban ganas de enseñárselo a todo el mundo,
y decir: Mira!! soy yo! y mis muñecas!! :D

beacuse it was so thrilling and i'm so proud of participating in this gorgeous project...
as on the book's profile is written: "Indie Craft brings together and showcases examples of artists who work with traditional craft techniques such as embroidery, crochet, knitting, and cross stitch, but in a new, alternative or subversive way. Indie Craft is the term often used to describe this new wave of craft."

Jo Waterhouse has managed to portray a good part of the independent craft scene of the moment, gathering in this book amazing crafted artworks in a variety of styles and techniques. that's why it's so special! everything in this book is so interesting!
Faith Levine has written the foreword (author of the book and documentary: Handmade Nation)

i was so excited first time i was at my local bookstore and i saw my name printed and my little dolls amonst so many wonderful works, my heart was beating so fast...
i'd loved telling everybody there that it was me, that my work was featured on this book!

y cómo no, también es super interesante todo lo relacionado con la autora del libro, porque Jo Waterhouse es también una gran crafter, que trabaja el punto, crochet y el bordado.
(ahí está su autorretrato bordado) es fundadora del Worcester Rebel Knitting Club (se reunen dos veces al mes en un pub, meriendan y tejen o crochetan..., está abierto a quien quiera pasar una tarde entretenida) en su facebook hay fotos de sus reuniones, patrones... de todo un poco!
organiza también la feria de Vintage y Craft de allí. (si estáis allí el fin de semana que viene podéis pasaros y contarnos cómo ha ido ;)
Ha escrito varios libros sobre arte urbano Concrete to Canvas: Skateboarders' Art vol. 1 y 2 y Art by Tattoists. Tiene un blog en Modart, otro con tutoriales UK DIY Craft...

creo que es el mejor regalo crafty para estas navidades!!!

because Jo Waterhouse besides great arts writter and author of some books, is a cool indie crafter, dabbling with knitting, crochet, embroidery...
(this is her lovely embroidered autoportrait) she's the founding member of Worcester Rebel Knitting Club (meet twice a month in a pub, for drinking tea and knitting, sewing.., is open to anyone who wants to spend an crafty afternoon)
there are some pics of the meetings, patterns... on their facebook, a little of everything!
she is one of the organizers of the Worcester's Vintage & Craft Fair. (if you are visiting the city next weekend, you can check it and tell us how it went ;)

as she explains, she only writtes on subjects that she's genuinely interested in, books that she would love to buy herseft. they are all about urban art, DIY subcultures: Concrete to Canvas: Skateboarders' Art vol. 1 and 2 and Art by Tattoists.
She writtes on Modart Magazine and on UK DIY Craft blog too.

2011 Dolis y Dolos Calendar!!

estoy tan feliz! el calendario 2011 de las 'dolis y dolos' ya está en la tienda!!
recién salidito del horno.
creía que no lo acabaría nunca, me ha costado un montón...
suerte que gabi me ha estado ayudando
he hecho trampa!! jeje ;)
es un A4, está escrito a mano y decorado con mis muñecas,
impreso en un papel mate de alta calidad de 167 g/m.
queda muy bien impreso, estoy tan contenta con el resultado!
espero que os guste y disfrutéis el nuevo año con el calendario ♥

hoy ha sido un gran día porque he conseguido una cosita
con la que venía soñando desde hace mucho: una bici!
la he comprado esta mañana en los encantes,
había quedado con la Ballena Elena y de repente la he visto ahí, tan bonita...
mi bici es ligera, viejecita, pequeña y manejable, destartalada... preciosa!
sólo le tengo que hinchar la rueda de atrás y ajustar el freno delantero.
gabi ha dicho las palabras mágicas, dice que parece de Mary Poppins,
llevo todo el día mirándola y cuidándola.
de momento está en el salón porque todavía no tengo un sitio para guardarla.
ya veremos donde la meto!

i'm so excited!! the 2011 calendar featuring my 'dolis and dolos' is already on the shop!
straight out of the oven ;)
i thought i couldn't finish it, designing it was too hard for me.
i'm so chaotic putting things together... gabriel helped me making it, i cheated! hehe ;)

It's an A4 size calendar, it's hand written and features some of my little dolls. It's carefully home printed by me using high quality heavyweight (167gsm) matte paper.
i love how it looks, it's a very sweet print.

today was a great day because I've got a little something i long dreamed about: a bike.
i got it this morning at the fleamarket while wandering together with la ballena Elena.
my bycicle is light, old, small and manegeable, beat-up... gorgeous!!!
gabriel said that it looks Mary Poppins' bike, so perfect!!
it only needs to inflate the back wheel and adjust the front brake.
i've been caring and cleening it :)

cómo va todo? preparadas ya para el frío?

yo he conseguido por fin acabar todos los trabajos que llevo arrastrando desde el verano. ahora sí que vuelvo a estar 100% volcada con Misako Mimoko, así que preparáos porque vienen unos meses cargaditos de novedades, celebraciones, libros... y cosas bonitas.

¿habéis visto ya la revista on-line de kireei? no os la perdáis porque hay un montón de cosas interesantes, tutoriales chulísimos, recetas riquísimas... y reportajes buenísimos!
he tenido la gran suerte de ser entrevistada junto con Alícia de Duduá y Deborah de Dumbo.
las fotos en las que salimos las tres son de Laura de Craft by Kat, le quedaron super graciosas (pasaros por su blog y disfrutar con sus bordados!!)

Making new stuff

vuelvo a tener algo de tiempo para coser, para hacer nuevas muñecas,
y seguir cosas que tenía aparcadas desde hace mucho.
y eso me gusta :)
los colores de otoño me han invadido,
y he crocheteado un conjunto de gorrito y bufanda para una nueva doli
será un árbol de invierno.

además estoy empezando a montar lo que será
el primer calendario de las dolis y dolos
espero tenerlo acabado antes de diciembre!!
