hello, yarns!
thinking in winter, in cold weather hot chocolate and wool,
i wish i could finally start a cozy knit project,
this book, Portuguese knitting by Rosa Pomar
got smitten by her
and by Retrosaria,
the little haberdashery in Lisbon is the prettiest
(must visit it someday!)
she is really involved in the research of Portuguese textiles,
arranges workshops and sells handspun yarns by skilled artisans
using traditional tools and methods.
she's the queen!
love everything she makes, her yarns are packaged
with a lovely design and illustrations.
my friend Mercedes gave me
a beautiful yellow Mondim yarn that i keep like a treasure,
waiting for the perfect project.
it could be any from Rosa's book.
all those geometric patterns and
color combinations are so amazing!

con la cabeza ya en el invierno
intento una vez más empezar algún proyecto de punto,
este libro de Rosa Pomar me hizo tilín en cuanto lo ví.
soy súper fan de
Rosa Pomar,
de su proyecto
Retrosaria,
una mercería preciosísima en Lisboa (y tienda online)
que algun día tengo que visitar
rescatando y manteniendo vivas
las técnicas, los materiales y toda la tradición lanera de portugal.
¡ojalá hubiese más gente como ella!
es una de mis heroínas.
también soy fan de sus lanas y de la iconografía de su marca,
las etiquetas con esos dibujillos me encandilan.
mi amiga
Mercedes, que controla cantidad haciendo media
(y mil cosas más)
me regaló un ovillo de Mondim amarillo
que me tiene embelesada.
algo haré con él, todavía no sé qué pero algo cdel libro caerá.
igual esas mangas o los mitones, o las bolsitas...
esas geometrías y esas combinaciones de colores son lo más!
a ver por cual me decido.

Tras estudiar historia y artes visuales, se sumergió en el universo del patrimonio textil portugués y ha sido una de las precursoras del movimiento craft en Portugal, que promueve a través de workshops y de su tienda
Retrosaria, todo un referente para el mundo craft de Lisboa. En su investigación incansable sobre los textiles tradicionales portugueses, ha recorrido todo el país para recoger muestras y testimonios de pastores, hilanderas y tejedoras.

November 10th and 11th
with workshops, and yarn artisans selling their products,
Rosa Pomar will be there too!
i've been designing their website during the summer,
it's been a very long but beautiful project.
